We just cleaned this beautiful Kilim rug in our shop. Kilim rugs originated in the Anatolia area of Turkey and are distinguished by a flat weave construction and bold geometric shapes. The weavers use a “slitweave” technique that leaves small gaps between color blocks. This weaving technique creates very clear and distinct color differentiation and bold lines. The flat weave (i.e. no pile) technique results in an extremely wear-resistant rug that will last for generations if properly maintained.
